Some Americans are against UHC because it will mean waiting longer to see a doctor. However, they forget how much time they waste waiting for their in-house doctors to become available and for their insurance to approve recommended procedures.

Others are concerned that socialized healthcare will mean higher taxes to cover up costs. They explain life is already expensive, and they don’t want to dig further into their pockets.
Healthy People Are Forced to Subsidize
A Canadian poster shares, “I had an honest conversation with an American about healthcare, and the attitude was simple. Healthcare is a zero-sum situation, and if some lower-income people get better healthcare, then it would be at the expense of him and his family.”
Many aren’t ready to subsidize healthcare because they don’t feel responsible for other people’s health.

When some Americans look at public schools, they only see failure and disaster. So, they aren’t willing to contribute to UHC because they have no faith in government-run projects.

Some Americans dislike socialized healthcare because it will be up to bureaucrats to develop medical policies, which, they believe, will result in a lower level of healthcare.
Don’t Want to Pay for Anyone but Themselves
Many Americans “feel threatened by the notion of everyone having access to a baseline level of service because they think only they are paying for it, and everyone else is leeching off it.”
Better Care with Health Insurance
Others are dead set against the plan because they prefer having private insurance, not generalized care, as everyone else.
Strong Culture of “Individualism”
Lastly, many Americans are solely focused on themselves and don’t want to play a part in improving other people’s quality of life. Others even ask, “Why should I pay for someone else’s healthcare or their bad choices?”
