Yes, chiropractic care is a scam. Chiropractors claim they can help treat back, neck, and joint pain, headaches, allergies, arthritis, and other ailments. But before you sign up for their services, we’ve outlined 11 reasons to rethink your decision.

Has Its Roots in a Ghost Story

The father of chiropractic care, Daniel David Palmer, said he got the ideas on how to perform the treatment from the ghost of a long-dead doctor, Jim Atkinson. He claimed Jim spoke to him during a séance, despite him being dead for 50 years.

Not Science Backed

Besides, if you want a science-backed version of joints, muscle, bone, and spine treatment, it is physical therapy, not chiropractic care.

Short, Temporary Relief

A poster shares they received chiropractic care for years but got short-term relief for sciatica, a condition where they had a bulging disc in their lower back. However, after shifting to a personal trainer, it only took a month of back exercises to heal their condition permanently.

Another poster confesses, “Physiotherapy fixed me. I spent 3 years in pain going to chiropractors. What a waste of time and money.”

No Better Than a Therapeutic Massage and With More Risks

Chiropractic is nothing more than a therapeutic massage but with more risks. You also waste money buying useless packages with short-term benefits.

Can Cause Vertebral Artery Tears

These tears can lead to stroke or, worse, death. A neurologist writes, “I can’t even tell you how many massive strokes I have seen due to chiropractic neck manipulation. Don’t do it. Like ever.”

No Medical Degree or License Required

Also, many chiropractors lack a medical degree or license, which should worry you if they’re handling your neck and spine. In addition, “they aren’t doctors and aren’t based on science,” yet some insist on being called doctors. But this behavior may stem from Palmer, who also called himself a doctor.

Did you know that legit colleges don’t offer chiropractic education? And those that do are private and for-profit purposes.

Based on Nonsense 19th Century Pseudoscience

Daniel David Palmer founded chiropractic treatment in the 19th century, explaining subluxations cause all sorts of diseases. Subluxations are where a bone(s) shift out of position, creating pressure on the nerves. However, medical professionals dismiss this claim as false, yet chiropractors base their treatment on this ancient theory.

Most Chiropractors Believe They Can Cure Different Ailments

“According to the field, every disease can be cured by spinal and joint adjustments,” says a poster, “Yes, literally every disease: cancer, AIDS, diabetes. According to them, it is all caused by a misaligned spine of other joints.” Doesn’t this scream a scam?

You’ll Keep Coming Back

The treatment is also a scam because you’ll never be cured. As a matter of fact, most chiropractors will advise you to take multiple sessions.

Doesn’t Utilize Physical Therapy

“Physical therapy can solve the root of the problem, strengthen your muscular support muscles, and help you develop new habits to fix the issue, long-term,” writes a poster. However, many chiropractors don’t use physical therapy techniques, proving to be scammers.
