Some car brands, like Porsche, BMW, and Tesla, often don’t need an introduction. Sadly, these 12 cars don’t get enough recognition yet are just as good as or better than some popular models.
Table of Contents
Chevrolet
First is Chevy, which doesn’t receive enough attention even though it has produced great models, including Corvette and Hummer EVs. However, some people mention that failed consistency in producing quality is the reason why the brand loses its credibility.
“Some Chevrolet niche products are great, but most of the mass market stuff is utter garbage,” says a poster.
GM
GM has some of the best engineers in the world who produce awesome cars. Sadly, marketers, accountants, management, and internal politics ruin everything, denying it its deserved attention.
Volvo
Volvo is also underrated, yet it makes cool cars. And did you know the highest mileage world record is by a 1966 Volvo with 3 million+ miles? That says a lot.
“Volvo has some of the strangest/ most interesting powertrain setups for your average daily commuter vehicle,” says a user.
Buick
Buick receives hate from some drivers, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t reliable. Those who’ve driven one of the brand’s models were surprised when the car over-delivered beyond their expectations. They mention that these cars would sell well if Buick put resources into advertising and marketing.
Mazda
Also low-key are Mazda cars. The company is intent on improving the good features in their cars to make them great rather than reinventing things and losing their customer base.
“They seem to use a tried and true formula, they keep and improve drivetrains that are good instead of trying to reinvent the engine every 4 years, and they don’t seem overly obsessed with making a computer control everything,” explains a commentator.
Lotus
Lotus rarely gets credit, but the brand “sets the benchmark for fun tossable cars” at an attainable price. Users mention they love the Exige 350, Emira, and Elise. One says he’s pulled up to several gas stations, and people confuse his Elise with a Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo offers an incredible driving experience but doesn’t top the charts regarding recognition. It receives mixed reactions from car enthusiasts, some loving it and others hating it.
Suzuki
Suzukis, too, are underrated, with only a few cars left in the US. If only people realized they were sleeping on one of the greatest car dealers globally.
A poster shares, “My mom bought a brand new Aerio in 2006 and drove it up until she passed away a few years ago. My sister inherited it, and it still runs great.”
Skoda
Skodas have distinct styles, cool performance features, and roomy interiors and come at an affordable price. Despite this, they’re often the last cars people think about when buying a new vehicle.
MINI
A Mini Cooper S owner says, “While the previous generation with the Peugeot engines was terrible, the newer models using the BMW B-series engines are very well built and reliable. But they all get clumped together because of all the issues the older gen had.”
Genesis
Some people are unaware that Genesis is a luxury car brand under Hyundai. They don’t know it makes consistent, quality cars equivalent to or much better than famous German machines.
Saab
Saab may not be making new cars, but their existing ones are solid and deserve recognition. Some drivers mention the Saab night mode was always a highlight of their night driving.
